Notes Under Construction 5/28/22

1. Social attraction:  Drawn to people with an overall confidence that the human touch is a good thing 7-8

2.  Following  Stays close, moves in coinciding direction, hesitant about doorway leading inside. 5-6

3. Restraint. Tolerant without malice. Takes a second or two before testing his predicament.  7-8

4. Social Dominance Uses his body to block other dogs. Calls for attention but doesn't demand it. 5-6

5. Emotional Availability: Easy to read but he hasn't a wide range of emotions to convey.    bit of a derp 7-8

6. Job oriented tasking:  strives to follow directions and asks for guidance by offering behaviors.  7-8

7. Touch Sensitivity: Tolerant but he feels touch and is sensitive to discomfort.  Reacts calmly     5-6

8. Sound sensitivity: stable and curious.  Doesn't flee but is wary if the noise is sudden.   7-8

9. Sight sensitivity:  a lesser trigger than sound for him.   Curious not wary of new sights. 7-8

10. Stability:  Stable and dependable, predictable.  Hasn't tried to bolt or buck with anything so far 7-8

11. Barking/vocal/whining Barks appropriately. Will stop when redirected. Doesn't whine with excess. 5-6

12.  Digging - Right now it's not too bad, but he's just discovering it.  2 small holes in 7 days.  5-6

13. Destructive Not at all.  9-10

14. Human object awareness Interested in man made things, not partial to them. No preference noted 7-8

15. Boundary respectfulness has not attempted to undo barrier or escape, but is aware that he could. 7-8

16. Swallowing compulsion none so far that I've noticed. All chewed objects have discred remains. 9-10

March 2023 - Still a bit of a derp, Mithril is doing fine He has sired three litters since coming to stay with us last year. We've never really had an issue with him yet, health or otherwise. He gets along with all females and once nuetered, will probably tolerate the companionship of another male dog much better than his studly self does now.  Not aggressive nor a bully, polices his harem as with stern kindness.

Mithril will be turning two in May, most of his growing done and weight topping 140-150 lbs during colder months. He's still incredibly gentle with us. Respectful of our personal space and velcro during petting sessions. His coat is thick, somewhat difficult to brush. This will be his first spring adult moult with me and I expect to spend a series of grooming sessions with him getting all the winter coat out.  He's one stop short of being perfect. He still does not volunteer to jump in the car. He's difficult if not immpossible for me to lift by myself, and refuses to use steps or a ramp.   Currently eating Nutrena Loyal Life Large Breed Adult.
